Purpose of the Hajj Waqf
Hajj is one of the 5 Pillars of Islam and as such compulsory on all Muslims who can afford the sacred pilgrimage journey. There are many who save for years to fulfil their duty while there are others who yearn to go but will never fulfil their pilgrimage because they cannot afford the cost of Hajj or fall short of the full cost of the Hajj packages.
The Awqaf SA Hajj Waqf Fund will help make the dream of performing Hajj for the pleasure of Allah (S.W.T) a reality for as many less fortunate individuals as the revenue will allow. The bigger the fund, the more the support.
Contributions can be as a once of amount, a recurring monthly or annual amount for whatever value a donor is comfortable with.
Why Donate to the Awqaf SA Hajj Waqf?
The average cost of a Hajj trip as of March 2019 is between R50,000 - R60,000 per person.
The quota system for the Hajj pilgrimage by the Saudi Government already imposes a restriction on the number of people that are selected to perform the Hajj. In addition to this every year there are individuals who make the list based on their intention but do not necessarily have the means either in full or in part due to increasing costs.
Awqaf SA mainly uses the income generated from this fund to assist pilgrims to meet a portion of their shortfall to complete their package costs so that they are enabled to go for their Hajj.
Need for reaching the Target Fund Value
Reaching the targeted Hajj Waqf Fund value will ensure that a reasonable impact is reached in South Africa to cover the shortfall of costs for a fair number of individuals that have the approval to go for hajj but not necessarily the complete means. Every contribution counts and you can donate to increasing the Waqf fund as well as donating funds to be used directly to settle outstanding amounts for fellow muslims Hajj packages where they need the assistance.
