About the Artist
Nadia Cassim is a qualified Town and Regional Planner, a practicing Financial Advisor as well as the Editor in Chief and Founder of Irtiqa Magazine. Her passion and love for art has travelled with her from infancy into adulthood. In 2008 she taught basic Arabic calligraphy to art students and hosted her first successful private exhibition. Subsequently, she exhibited at the Jo’burg Old Sparks Gallery (2009) and Marouns Art Gallery (2012). As part of IRTIQA’s social development projects, she co-hosted and co-ordinated an exhibition in 2014 at Constitution Hill titled: Unveiling the Hijabi. She continues to paint and take on commissions as part of her desire to keep grounded in her creativity.
